This one was one of Bill's bucket list items for the trip, and it made for a beautiful but chilly ride from Camp Verde to Winslow in January. However, the sun was still shining!
We love how every time we make a road trip in Arizona, the landscape is unique to each area and so stunning. On this road trip, we went from scrub brush and open plains to rolling hills, small canyons, rocky bluffs, red rock, pine tree forests, prickly pear cactus, and golden fields as far as the eye could see. The tar snakes on the highway illuminated under the sun, and a January chill slapped against my cheeks with a bitter sting as we wound our way through Northern Arizona's highways AZ-260 and AZ-87 N. Video of the drive posted to our Instagram account @chasethesunformototfun
We didn't pass much in the way of towns or populated areas, only one gas station along the way, so have a full tank of gas, water, and snacks on hand as there was nothing but land, desert, and road in the event of a breakdown.
We arrived in Winslow feeling somewhat chilled and in need of a place to warm up and have a bite, but first, picture ops on Winslow's famous corner in the Eagles song.

We stood on the corner of Winslow, Arizona, and took a few shots, and it was "such a fine sight to see"!

We didn't have to search long or far for a great place to eat. Right on the corner, there is Relicroad Brewing Co., and lucky us got a seat at the bar next to the grill, the perfect spot to warm up and drool over the burgers sizzling a few feet away. We ordered a couple of flight boards and burgers and chatted with the couple next to us visiting from South Dakota. The vibe was cozy, and the food and beer were awesome... just what we needed to refuel for the 2-hour ride back.
Life is short... so grip it and rip it!
