We had a short stay in Salt Lake but did manage to get quite a bit packed into our one week stay. Seeing Temple Square - Church of the Later Day Saints was amongst some of our explorations of Salt Lake.
We hopped the TRAX instead of driving. It was an easy short ride from our RV site and eliminated the hassle of looking for parking in town.
The Temple was under construction, so we could not go in the temple but did see the Tabernacle and the Conference Center, which had models of the Temple inside. The model of the temple was done with such beautiful detail and talent. We can only imagine how stunning the finished temple will be to marvel at. There will be an open house to the public to see the completed temple in 2027.
On February 14, 2025, President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared on his social media platforms the dates for an open house event at the Salt Lake Temple which is normally closed to the public. He extended an invitation to people worldwide to join this special occasion, scheduled to take place from April 2027 to October 2027.

We arrived just in time to catch a guided tour which is free.
I think tours were hourly at the top of the hour but you can check the church link for more accurate info: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/feature/templesquare/book-tour?lang=eng
The sisters/missionaries leading our tour were lovely and very informative. While we have our own beliefs and faiths, we did find the tour interesting and believe in learning about others/their faiths and being open to diversity.
The conference center is a beautiful building filled with art and an impressive auditorium that seats 21,000 people. The tour lasted around 45 minutes and is worth taking. Throughout the tour, we were encouraged to ask questions if we had any, which we thought was great. We did not find anyone pushing religion on us in any way and were simply led on a tour that told stories of their faith and prophets. We found it very interesting and enjoyed learning about another faith. It allows one to remove any stigmas about a faith or people that you may have. The best way to know people is to let them teach you and show you who they are.

Across the street is the Tabernacle in Temple Square, which is open to the public. We were lucky enough to arrive to the organist practicing. We sat and listened for a while, enjoying the acoustics and architecture. This building was used as the original conference center and seats 3,500 people.
Seeing Temple Square is a must do while in Salt Lake.
We'd like to thank the LDS for opening your doors to us and learn more about the Mormon faith and tour your beauitiful buildings.
